The Maryland Foster Youth Resource Center

The Maryland Foster Youth Resource Center (MFYRC) is a non-profit organization created and operated by former foster youth. MFYRC is reaching out to current and former foster youth – a population too often characterized by a lack of formal education and training, under-employment, homelessness, incarceration, suicide and early parenting.  We are working to assist these youth in attaining life skills and identifying and accessing resources needed for survival and positive development.  We do this in part by facilitating positive peer connections to improve the likelihood that the youth involved with us will become stable and successful adults.

Our goal is to ensure that all youth transitioning out of foster care and foster care alumni in Maryland are aware of resources available to them and have the tools they need to become successful and contributing members of society.

We possess more than just the foster care experience, as we are professionals who have backgrounds of working directly with foster youth and others in the foster care system.  Having experienced the foster care system ourselves, we offer a different perspective and can perhaps reach out to the youth in a way that will motivate and inspire them.
